In September, Fedor Konyukhov visited the maxi- yacht “Trading Network “Alye Parusa” which is stationed at Pendennis Shipyard, Falmouth, UK. The boat deserves a rest of full value. For the last two seasons the skipper has sailed over 50.000 nautical miles, which include two transatlantic crossings in 2004; a circumnavigation around the world in 2004-2005; and two transatlantic crossings with the Russian crew in 2005-2006. Together with the main sponsor it was decided that the boat will be at Pendennis Shipyard from September 2006 until May 2007. During these months there will be some substantial works done on the boat. In November of 2007 Fedor Konyukhov is planning to circumnavigate around the continent of Antarctica. This particular circumnavigation is an acclaimed campaign for the boats size of “Alye Parusa.” Fedor considers it will take at least two months to complete the circle around the continent. The start will take place in Port Hobart, Tasmania. Getting there will become a half of the circumnavigation around the world since one has to sail through the Atlantic and Indian Oceans to get to Tasmania. After the completion of sailing around the Antarctica, the maxi-yacht will be stationed in port of Sydney, Australia for a few months. In meanwhile, Fedor will take off to the east coast of Australia and start the camel journey across the Outback from west to east. The start for this journey will be a city of Broome which is located in Northwest of Australia. The distance to be covered across the continent is 5.000 km, and the approximate time that it will take is 5 months. Such are the plans for the next year. This October, 2006 Fedor is leaving for Canada where he will start his training in order to participate in the famous dog sled race “Yukon Quest” in February of 2007. |
